McKnight's eyewitness account of the balloon ascent by Confederate army officer John Randolph Bryan in the South's first attempt at aerial operations. McKnight also describes other incidents relating to his service with the 105th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment. Includes photocopy of an article (1996) concerning Bryan and Confederate aerial operations.
